MAX MARINO
"KILLING FLOOR"
This look is an ode to the workers of Chicago’s Union Stockyards from 1865 into the early 1900s, known as Packingtown. The look serves as a reminder of the horrific conditions that European immigrants faced in Chicago’s south side neighborhood, Back of the Yards, as they worked tirelessly...slowly deteriorating over time. The garments feature protective elements, durable fabrics and distressing to reflect the dangerous work environments, using animal based fabrics to convey a more literal depiction of the Stockyards. The quality of materials and fit humanizes and uplifts the worker, honoring them for their sacrifices.
